Backseat Driver

Timmy is the ultimate backseat driver lately.

As soon as he’s buckled in he’s telling me he wants to go to Aunt Jessica’s house and when I don’t make that left to get on the highway he’s telling me to, “Turn around Mommy, other way OTHER WAY!”

Other Timmy expert driving advice:

“Whoa Mommy that was too fast.”

“Stop the car Mommy it red!”

When I beep my horn – “Be careful mommy!”

“Wait for it to be green Mommy!” When I’m letting the car roll at the light. “Ok it’s green, go faster!”

If I hit a bump – “Uhohhhh what did you do?”

“Timmy drive Mommy.”

If I could find a fake steering wheel that straps to the front passenger seat I think he would go nuts. I’m gonna go google that now.

Great Grandpa Gauck

We had quite a scare today. I got a call from my cousin early this morning that my grandfather was in the hospital and that the doctors didn’t think he was going to make it. Tim had already left for work so I threw the kids in the car and drove down.

Turns out bringing your babies to the ICU is frowned upon. A very unhappy nurse told us that children were not exactly welcomed there and that we needed to find a babysitter. So we went to Aunt Jessica’s and waited for the good news that he made it out of surgery and was feeling better.

My grandfather is a very special man. And I don’t just say that because he’s my own grandfather, it’s a fact. He is an old school gentleman, the kind of man you can depend on. When my great grandmother couldn’t live on her own he took her in. Not many men gladly take in their mother-in-laws. On top of that my grandmother (his wife) has been paralyzed for some time now. He took care of them both for many years. My great grandmother as since gone to be with The Lord. Day in and day out he lives to take care of his wife.

My grandparents are the perfect example of what marriage is suppose to look like. Last Tuesday I got to see it right in front of me. My grandma is in rehab right now recovering from a stroke so we were visiting her and in walks my grandfather with a very happy boyish smile and trucker hat. He always wears his hats only half way pushed down {classic grandpa look}. He sits down next to my grandmother, gets real close, gently grabs her hand kisses it and says how are you feeling today dear. He always calls her dear. She smiles and says she missed him. It was like they were in their own little bubble of love. I wonder what their secret is.

Things I know about my grandfather:
– He loves peanut butter cookies but hates chocolate.
– He still calls me beanie {my childhood nickname}.
– He is an expert gardener.
– I will always remember him giving me minty gum {Trident to be exact} as a kid. Turns out gum was what helped him quit smoking.
– He worked at Entimens when we were kids so no get together was without pound cake or crumb cake or those awesome small chocolate chip cookies.
– He is crafty with wood. I have so much of his masterpieces around the house.
– He gave us some of the best childhood memories at his lake house that he built with his own two hands! Crazy right?
– He introduced Timmy to hot wheels cars and now he’s crazy for them {like sleep with them at night crazy}.
– He is a closet animal LOVER
– He adds an insane amount of black pepper on all his food
– You will never catch him without a huge cup of ice. The man is addicted!

They just don’t make them like Grandpa anymore.

Praise Jesus that he is feeling better!

Sweet Memories

Timmy & G-da are having a pretend pizza party and I over hear them debating whether the topping is broccoli or according to Timmy a palm tree. And if the red bell pepper is a heart. So cute. Anybody want a palm tree and heart pizza?

Boy Things

Timmy is all boy and I really struggle with all the gross things he’s been up to lately.

Right of the bat my son is a streaker. Naked is his favorite outfit. Tim says he was the same way at his age.

Today within 5 seconds of being outside he was digging in sand sprinkled with ant killer so I freaked and then he took a bucket of mud mixed with rain water and dumped it on his head! I was so grossed out I rushed him into the shower. I’m really trying to let him be a boy but yuck!

Then we found baby frogs in the garden and he wanted to hold them and rock them.

20140709-214900-78540873.jpg

In the shower he turned a green wash cloth into a “turtle” and so we carried around a soaking wet “turtle” throughout the house singing rock a bye baby.

Then he was drawing a picture of a dinosaur of course, eating yogurt and watching jake & the never land pirates. He would literally draw a little, eat a spoonful of yogurt then run over to the tv and start all over.

20140709-215436-78876075.jpg

Jake led to pretending he was Captain Hook with his little finger curled up as his “hook” and using a foam sword to fight Grace. Poor Grace. But I’ll tell you what that girl can hold her own.

His new word is “pretty prettttty pleassssse mommy” hands folded and all. And when he gets a no here come the waterworks. If it was up to Timmy ice pops would be his go to food for breakfast, lunch & dinner. As he’s rolling out of bed he’s saying, “ice pop mommy?”

Two is hard. I’m not gonna lie. But it’s also a lot of fun. Everyday he is teaching me to have more patience, to slow down and how to enjoy the very , very simple like the mud or a baby frog. 😝

Splish Splash

I really can’t stand the splashing in the tub. But then I feel bad for not letting them have any fun. Ugh decisions, decisions. To be the cool mom and soaked or mean and dry…

They really don’t bathe together much anymore so splashing it is.

My Sweet Independent Boy

20140705-101101-36661634.jpg
Everyday Timmy is telling me how he can do it himself. And I’m like since when??!!

Recently he is taking showers instead of taking a bath with Grace. He even washes his own body. No mommy needed.

He dresses himself & undresses himself more often than I like. One morning I found him snuggled in bed, take the cover off and there’s a naked boy diaperless and all. He tells me what he wants to wear too. Not so great since he only wants to wear car or train shirts that are too small but still cute to see he has preferences now.

He uses scissors by himself. Gets his own water from the frig. Speaks in full sentences. Rides his bike. Cleans up singing the clean up song and everything. Brushes his own teeth. This morning he had to have an ice pop for breakfast because he said he was dreaming of it all night. Luckily his ice pops are just puréed frozen fruit & veggies shhhhh🙊

I love that he’s talking because he is such a caring little soul. If G-da coughs he goes running to where ever he is and asks, “Are you ok G-da? Do you need to lay down?” If anyone sneezes you can be sure Timmy will say “God bless you!” If you have a booboo Dr. Timmy will kiss it all better and then tilt his head and say, “All better?” He’s too sweet. Thank you’s allllll day long for the smallest things too. Anywhere we go he says hello to every person and they better say hi back or he will just keep saying it looking like did they not hear me mom?! Lol

Even though he’s a big boy now he still will ask me to rock him like a baby every now and then and I jump on the chance.

Happy Fourth!

We spent the holiday at Aunt Erica’s. We played board games, ate ALOT and took tons of pictures.

Grace goes from happy to full on break down in seconds. My little drama queen!

Timmy was dressed in a matching outfit to Grace but he is on strike against any clothing that doesn’t have a car or a train on the front sooo he changed before I got any pictures.

He had so much fun with Aunt Toria, Aunt Rachel & Uncle Tom learning to play Ring around the Rosie and Duck Duck Goose.

He waited all day to eat this cake.

Then we went to visit Great Grandma at the nursing home. Timmy made it his job to brighten everyone’s day. He was telling everyone, “Feel better!” And he kissed Great Grandmas booboos all better.

Daddy wanted Timmy to stay up past bedtime to watch the Macy Fireworks. It was worth it to hear all the “ooooo pretty” and “wowwwww mommy look!” Then Tim taught him to put his hand on his heart during the Star-Spangled Banner. It was adorable.

Grace is 11 months!

I can’t believe in just 4 weeks we will be singing Happy a Birthday to Gracie. Ugh it breaks my heart. She’s turning into a little lady right before our eyes.

She plays peekaboo with her towel every night after bath. She walks back and forth to mommy and daddy but not quite running around the house yet. Sleeps in her crib but still nurses once around midnight. One night she slept through the night but all it did was make me a nervous wreck checking her every few hours. She really knows her bedtime routine because she starts crying as soon as we do prayers.

She loves wagon rides and riding in Timmy’s pickup truck. Absolutely LOOOVES to sing. She took her first music class and went to her first splash park this month. She carries toys in her mouth like a doggie. She loves to share food and her kisses are very wet {as in mouth wide open, tongue out} but we still love them.

She’s still tiny weighing 18 pounds 13 ounces and 28 inches long. At her age Timmy was 23 pounds! So to us she is just a little munchkin. Even baby cousin Max is catching up to her.

Here’s our month in pictures:

Now I need to get started on this tu-tu birthday bash for my sweet little baby GIRL!

Happy Birthday P-pa!

Today was such a great day! Craig and the girls came over to celebrate P-pa’s {Tim’s dad} 74th birthday. My kids adore their cousins.

20140628-211235-76355575.jpg

While the men barbecued the kids played in the pool.

It was just one of those really happy, family closeness kinda days. It makes me so happy to see the kids playing together and laughing. I only took like a million photos. ☺️
