Daddy’s Mini Me

Everyday Daddy goes to work and lately so does Timmy. It’s adorable.

He has to do it all the same as Tim. Shower, shave, dress shirt, dress shoes and a watch. And let’s not forget the best part hugs and kisses. The newest part of his routine is telling me to make him eggs!

“Timmy what time is it?”
“Umm it’s 18.”

He really watches Tim’s every move. He was about to walk out the door and he was like wait mommy hugs and kisses! Too sweet.

On casual Friday lol he even tries to tie Daddy’s sneakers.

Hmmm classic Daddy.. JUST KIDDING!

Father’s Day

This Father’s Day was very simple. We let Daddy sleep in while I made breakfast. The menu was all Daddy’s favorites: bread from scratch, homemade pancakes, bacon and G-da’s favorite: hash browns.

Then we went for a bike ride. Timmy is a pro on this tricycle and Grace loves the wagon now that she’s big enough.

We sent Daddy off to the spa for a massage then we went for pizza. We haven’t been out to a restaurant since December. We realized Timmy is too big for a high chair now and oh the anxiety of trying to keep him in his chair. He was pretty good and Grace slept the whole time.

We made this family hand tracing project and I’m in love with it!

Sweet Memories

I love to hear Timmy run over to Grace and say “Hi sweetie pie!”

If Grace sleeps later than Timmy it won’t be for long. First thing he has to do in the morning is find her even if it means jumping in her crib.

Boys & Mud

Look mommy I peepee like the doggies!

Classic boy memories. Awesome.

Our water bill is through the roof. I’m guessing it’s due to Timmy’s new mud puddle obsession. Shh don’t tell Daddy we let the water run 🙊

It’s always nice when I can have Cade over this way Timmy can have some real rough boy play. They had so much fun today outside. Even more fun was Mommy and Aunt Dawn got to somewhat relax and have adult conversations. You know you talk to toddlers all day when you say “beep beep” rather than “excuse me.” A glass of wine {or two!} and girl talk is like a mini vacation for me. I love it.

Grace was a little angel today. She napped while the boys played in the pool and then she just chilled with the girls.

Multi-tasking & this iPhone ugh

I used to pride myself on my multi-tasking skills now I’m starting to think it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. It used to feel so great to get so much done at once but now I’m just left feeling like I missed out on important things by the distraction of getting more done, faster. I’m guilty of mixing my kids into my multi-tasking and it makes me so sad.

I can play trains, drink coffee, text my friends and keep an eye on Gracie all at once but am I doing any of those things well?
Not at all.

Most importantly I want my kids to feel they have my complete attention. I really want to savor those sips of coffee not chug it. I crave some real quality time with friends IN PERSON not just through texting or facebook. And if you know me safety is top priority but really how safe is Grace if I’m watching her and doing all these other things at the same time.

I want to watch TV with my husband without playing a game on my phone or better yet just sit with him and talk, no TV. Yesterday the cable box was out and we just sat at the kitchen table talking, it was so refreshing.

I want to nurse my baby girl and just stare at her instead of checking in with the Facebook world because these nursing days will be ending soon.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been sitting on my sisters couch and I look around and we are all staring at our iPhone screens and no joke at the same time we are talking about how we want to spend less time on our phones.

It’s unbelievable how hard it is for me to disconnect from my electronics even though at the end of the day I really feel like it causes me the most frustration and takes so much of me away from my kids. Like do I really need to know what my high school friends kids did at school today?

So I want to try doing one thing at a time and giving it 100%. And I really want to smash this phone to pieces so I can stop and look people in the eye and really enjoy my time with the people in front of me instead of the texts and status updates of the people in this phone.

Sweet Memories

“Timmy why are you rubbing your nose and licking my arm?”

“Mom I’m being a meow cat!”

“Timmy why are you smacking the sliding glass door?”

“I’m catching bumble bees Mommy!”

“What are you doing Timmy?”

“Hanging pictures!”

Gracie is 10 months!

My baby is not so baby anymore. So much has changed in one month. Grace is standing alone and has even taken a few steps. She’s so funny about me having anything on my head. The second I put a hat or a toy on my head she’s high speed crawling and standing up to take it down. She’s talking up a storm and the poor thing has been blessed with my squeaky voice 🙉 and it’s real fun when her and Timmy get in a back and forth who can scream louder match. She’s saying Mama, Dada, Bye-bye, Dog and newest is Night-night and Babe. Every night when the kids are done in the bath I yell Babe they’re readyyyy! And grace and Timmy yell Baaaaaabe! So cute. Pretty sure she calls Timmy, NaNa. Her favorite song is splish splash I was takin a bath. She finally has just enough hair for a bow. It looks a little ridiculous but I love it. Her appetite has turned around from picky to I’ll eat anything and everything. Cheerios are a huge favorite and she’s always stealing Timmy’s sippy cup. She is crazy about trucks and trains and I can’t keep her away from Timmy’s tool bench. She knows how work the drill and everything. She loves going in the baby pool. She thinks unstrapping G-da’s shoes is the funniest thing ever. Grace goes to bed in her crib in her own room at 8:00 every night. She wakes up once around 2:00 to nurse and then goes right back I’m her crib and wakes up around 8:30. It’s great to have our bed back but I miss her.

First Stitches

Well we’ve survived our first stitches for Timmy. I was not as together as I would have liked to be. Actually I was a mess, literally running around screaming, “Ahhhhh what do I do what do I do???” Luckily my sister happened to be at our house.

All was well, the kids were crawling on the floor playing and I was making dinner. My sister calmly says, “oooo Laura Timmy hit his mouth.” I didn’t think much of it because the kid bumps and bruises himself all day, everyday.

But then there was his face, the open mouth scream but the pain is so bad there’s no sound. Blood every where, flesh showing…grossed out yet??

Tim was only 10 minutes away so he drove us and my sister stayed home with Grace.

We get to the ER and there’s no staff ANYWHERE. So here I am crazy mom mode banging on all the doors screaming helllllllo does anyone work here.

They wrapped Timmy in a cocoon with sheets and held him down to give him a shot of numbing and 2 stitches. It was very hard to watch. Timmy was so brave. Daddy not so much, sitting next to me with his head down while I’m singing twinkle twinkle in my very best {bad, real bad} singing voice trying not to cry. The worse part is that they think he’s going to loose some teeth from it.

Today he had to doctor on my chin first before he would let me touch his so we are both sporting Mickey mouse band aids.

Memorial Day

We really didn’t celebrate this Memorial Day with anything special. Tim actually was able to take off work this holiday. All he wanted to do was lounge so I didn’t fight it.

Gracie dressed the part even though we didn’t leave the house.

20140526-210259.jpg

Timmy had a blast in his pool. He was very busy drinking from the hose. Classic childhood memories. I love it!

20140526-210548.jpg

He had a bright idea to fill up his gas tank with water {if only that worked in real life}.

20140526-210752.jpg

I added his slide to the pool and it worked much better than the attached one. I love his face in this picture.

20140526-210937.jpg

My kids are too young obviously to understand this holiday but I came up with a tradition to start now and share with them later. My cousin Jon is a marine. While he was deployed he lost some very good friends. I spoke with him today and he is going to give me the addresses to the parents of his fallen friends. So every year I’ll have the kids make a card for these special people to let them know that their sons were not forgotten and include a small gift card to show our appreciation. It’s a small idea but I hope it brings a little love to their hearts.

Dinner at Memaw and P-pa’s

Last night we went for dinner at Tim’s parents house. I’m so glad they invited his brother too because my kids adore their cousins.

Timmy was going around giving everyone kisses for their boo-boos.

20140526-112344.jpg

Grace was crawling around knocking everything off the shelves. She took one tiny step toward Hannah for the first time.

20140526-112544.jpg

20140526-112645.jpg

Timmy starting singing songs for everyone and Hannah put a Itsy Bitsy Spider video on and Timmy was in love with it.

20140526-113441.jpg

Gracie loved being pushed around by P-pa on the baby car.

20140526-113546.jpg

When Hannah and Halle left Timmy cried. It was so sad. Hopefully with school almost out we can see them more.
